In January 2019, vaccination against free, mandatory varicella should have started. However, due to the lack of tender evasion, its introduction into the domestic immunization program will be delayed for several months.
Vaccine Tender has been published in the Official Journal of the European Union. The essence of the tender is that children under the age of two should be vaccinated against varicella - 95,000 vaccines by June 15, 2019, and 90,000 vaccines by December 15, 2019. Currently, two pharmaceutical companies - MSD Pharma Hungary Kft. (MSD) and GlaxoSmithKline Kft. (GSK) - have in-home vaccination against varicella. The vaccine is not supported by the social security system, so it costs about 10,000 forints per ampoule and two for the child to be immunized. According to CSO data, 38 to 40 thousand cases of varicella are registered in Hungary every year, but pediatricians are now significantly more likely to have the disease - it is estimated that around 100 thousand people are infected with the varicella virus.
What does this mean?
